Trilobites of the genus Phacops scurry across the sandy bottom of a Silurian sea 436 million years ago. Also in this image are branching sponges from the genus Vauxia. Phacops is a marine arthropod of the class Trilobita. It is characterized by a rounded body with a globose head. The Phacops in this image are about six inches long.
