Nearby irregular galaxy NGC 6822

NGC 6822 is located approximately 1.6 million light-years from Earth, in the constellation Sagittarius. It is a member of the Milky Way galaxy's Local Group. Image obtained with the Wide-Field Imager camera on the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope at the La Silla Observatory.
