The mighty Cassini orbiter has discovered a colossal, deep, whirling storm at the south pole of Saturn. The walls of the vortex appear smooth because of the speed of the rotation. The lightning is hypothetic. Unfortunately, Saturn's rings are hidden by the bulk of the planet from this perspective.
