Image taken during the great aurora of March 31, 2001 and is looking south from Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. The aurora was seen in Cuba and Mexico city on this night and this aurora will go down as one of the most powerful ever. The aurora only reaches to the tropics once or twice a century.
