A Vulcain 1 engine is prepared for testing on the P5 stand at DLR's test center in Lampoldshausen, Germany. This test stand, inaugurated in 1990, is identical to Snecma's PF50 test stand in Vernon, Normandy. Vulcain engines are tested in parallel on both facilities.
