South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) in Cape town. The 61 cm (24") McClean telescope (the Victoria Telescope), designed by Grubb in 1897 is housed in a dome planned by the renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker. Today it is mainly used on open nights, introducing visitors to some of the showpieces in the sky. Republic of South Africa.
