Paranal Observatory is an astronomical observatory located on the top of Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert in the northern part of Chile. This picture shows at left Yepun, one of the four 8,2m telescopes of the Very Large Telescope (VLT), with two auxiliary telescopes. Visible too, the anticrepuscular arch (or belt of Venus, the shadow of earth projected in the atmosphere) January 2008.
