The Rosette Nebula, NGC 2237, is a large cloud of hydrogen gas and dust located in the constellation of Monoceros. At the center of the nebula is open star cluster NGC 2244, the birthplace of the hot young stars that energize the stellar nursery in the heart of the nebula. The Rosette is located about 5,000 light years away and is about 100 light years across.
