The huge carnivorous dinosaur Acrocanthosaurus atokensis emerges from a stand of conifers (Frenelopsis ramosissima) onto a wide flood plain near the eastern coast of the Western Interior Seaway (an extension of the Atlantic that ran through the middle of North America in the Cretaceous period) to stalk a trio of Oklahoma's gigantic sauropods (Sauroposeidon proteles). Acrocanthosaurus atokensis was recently declared the state dinosaur of Oklahoma.
