Expedition 50 ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet waves farewell to friends and family as he and NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Novitskiy of Roscosmos depart building 254 a few hours ahead of their launch, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Whitson, Novitskiy, and Pesquet launched in their Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft to the International Space Station to begin a six-month mission.
