Wearing a head band representing the Manipulator Flight Demonstration (MFD) hardware several feet away in the open cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Discovery, Jan Davis, performs MFD operations at the experiment's work station. The MFD is to demonstrate function and performance of the Robot Arm similar to the Small Fine Arm (SFA) of Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) of the International Space Station (ISS) prior to its launch.
