Starting at about 23:00 UT on 26 February 2000, a large filament eruption could be seen in images from the Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) on the SOHO spacecraft. About an hour later, the filament eruption could be seen as a huge coronal mass ejection (CME) in the images from the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO).
