The Rosette Nebula is a beautiful large nebula complex in winter Milky Way in Monoceros. Surrounding open Cluster NGC 2244 in Monoceros, the Rosette is a collection of emission and dark nebulae and Bok Globules. The cluster is a distinctive group of a half dozen or so stars which some describe as appearing as a ladder. The cluster can be seen with the unaided eye in the winter Milky Way, but the entire nebula is difficult to view in a telescope because its large size can easily spill out of the field of view.
