Galaxies NGC 4631 (top right) and NGC 4656 (bottom left) are two unusual galaxies in Canes Venatici. A small companion galaxy, NGC 4627, can be seen next to NGC 4631. The galaxies, which are located about 30 million lights years away, get their unusual shapes from gravitational interactions with each other. NGC 6431 and NGC 4627 are also listed in Arp's Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies as Arp 281.
