STS-45 Atlantis, Orbiter Vehicle 104, begins its roll maneuver after liftoff from a Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex Pad at 8:13:40:048 am (Eastern Standard Time (EST)). This low angle view shows OV-104 (topside), its external tank, two solid rocket boosters, and three space shuttle main engines (SSMEs). Exhaust plumes billow out the SRB skirts. The diamond shock effect produced by the SSMEs is visible.
