Here is an interesting and particularly rich section of the Milky Way in Sagittarius. At top left in the frame is the red emission nebula M17, also known as the Swan or Omega nebula. Below and to the right of M17, is the faint emission nebula IC 4701. Below M17 and to the lower left of IC 4701 is open cluster M18. Taking up the entire lower center of the frame is M24, the small Sagittarius Star Cloud. Embedded in M24 is open cluster NGC 6603, just to the left of center. To the right of NGC 6603 are two dark nebulae, B92 and B93. At the bottom of the frame is red emission nebula IC 1283/84, and blue reflection nebulae NGC 6589 and NGC 6590. A meteor also was recorded next to the IC 1283/84 - NGC 6589/6590 complex during one of the exposures that make up the two-frame mosaic.
