Lying some 40,000 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Pegasus, M15 is one of nearly 150 known globular clusters that form a vast halo surrounding our Milky Way galaxy. It measures about 160 light years in diameter. It can be see with the unaided eye, northwest of Epsilon Pegasi, as a faint blurry "star".
