A Compsognathus prepares to swallow a small lizard it has ambushed by hiding in a hollow log. One fossilized example of Compsognathus has an entire lizard in its stomach, suggesting that Compsognathus may have swallowed some of its meals whole. Compsognathus also likely preyed on small insects.
