Central part of the Virgo cluster of galaxies

The nearest moderately rich cluster of galaxies lies in the direction of Virgo. The richest part of the cluster is centred on the giant elliptical-lenticular galaxies M84 (NGC 4374)(right) and M86 (NGC 4406)(left) which dominate this picture. However, the dynamical centre of the cluster is M87, to the lower left (south east) of this picture.
