This large area of emission nebulosity and patch of blue reflection nebulosity also contains the Cone Nebula, a dark nebula at the lower right corner of the red nebulae. At the bottom right of the frame is NGC 2261, Hubble's Variable Nebula, in this image looking like an overexposed mis-shaped star because of the extreme processing needed to bring out the faint nebulosity in the Cone Nebula.
