The Horsehead Nebula, in bright nebula IC 434, is a dark nebula approximately 1,500 light years from Earth in the constellation Orion. The nebula is located just below Alnitak, a supergiant star furthest left on Orion's Belt. The reflection nebula NGC 2023 is visible in the center of the image.
