This complex of red emission nebulosity in Cygnus surrounds the bright 2.2 magnitude star Gamma Cygni, or Sadr, just above right of the center of the frame. Above Sadr are two patches of nebulosity designated as IC 1318, popularly called the Butterfly Nebula. At the lower left of the frame is NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, a very interesting nebula that surrounds a Wolf-Rayet star.
