The Small Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf irregular galaxy located at a distance of about 210 000 light years; it is one of the Milky Way's nearest neighbors. Two globular clusters are visible: at left NGC 104, better known as 47 Tucanae, at the bottom NGC 362.
