Artist view of MSG-2, the second model of the Meteosat Second Generation satellite series, in geostationary orbit. The Earth is seen through an infrared channel. The 2-ton MSG-2 was successfully lofted onto a geostationary transfer orbit by an Ariane 5GS, on December 21, 2005, together with India's Insat 4A communication satellite.
