NGC 7000 is the famous North American Nebula in Cygnus. It is a very large emission nebula located just 3 degrees east-southeast of Deneb. On a dark night under a clear and transparent sky, the North American Nebula can be seen with the unaided eye as a bright patch in the Cygnus Milky Way. To its right is the Pelican Nebula, IC 5070, a much fainter area of nebulosity. The distance to the North America Nebula is estimated at 1,600 light years. The "Gulf of Mexico" region of the North American Nebula, NGC 7000, surrounds the dark nebula LDN935. NGC 7000 is a two frame mosaic, each frame being a hydrogen alpha color composite. Total exposure time was 11 hours (8 hours h-alpha, 3 hours RGB). The image was taken with the FSQ106 and STL11000
